The Grade II listed Mill Building, in the World Heritage site of Saltaire has benefitted from a £337,000 refurbishment.

The Mill Building is part of the Shipley College campus providing teaching facilities to a broad range of students.

The work included replacing the previous non-original painted windows with new high performance and energy efficient timber frames painted in “Saltaire Green” which was the original colour, new energy efficient lighting, external doors, roof works, and refurbishment to the existing teaching and student communal areas.

The upgrade was designed to minimise the carbon footprint with high levels of insulation and air tightness, with an estimated 11% reduction in carbon consumption.
