Allan was a founder of Rance Booth Smith Architects in 1982. He has over 35 years' experience in health, education, commercial, industrial and public sector projects.
Allan lives in Ilkley, and his hobbies are varied including road cycling, mountain biking, swimming, skiing and camping. He enjoys a beer and a curry and must enjoy work because he seems to do plenty of it.
Linda joined Rance Booth Smith Architects in 1991 and became a Partner/Director in 1996. In addition to architectural duties Linda is also the Practice's Principal Designer.
Karen is a qualified architectural technologist and interior designer and heads the Architectural Interiors/Interior Design department, undertaking all aspects of refurbishment projects, space rationalisation as well as space planning. Karen has been with the Practice for over 30 years.
Fundraising ambassador for Cancer Support Bradford & Airedale, chair of PTFA Immanuel College and supporting her son Alex’s very expensive motor-racing career.
Caroline is a Associate Director and the Sustainability Manager of RBS Sustainable which offers a whole range of services to help create environmentally sustainable buildings.
Caroline is married with two children. Her spare time is currently filled constructing an extension to their family home. When not busy driving diggers and laying blockwork Caroline enjoys skiing, reading, gardening and relaxing with a glass of red wine.
Martyn joined Rance Booth Smith in 2003 and has worked across a broad spectrum of projects, from large scale master planning proposals to smaller refurbishments and extensions. He has experience in a wide range of sectors including education, commercial, residential, healthcare and industrial. Martyn is also an RIBA Conservation Registrant and heads up our conservation service.
Martyn is married to Sadie and they have two children. Most of his free time is either spent out on day trips around Yorkshire trying to occupy his ever inquisitive son, or visiting family and friends further afield. He has a keen interest in photography, films, loves to travel (when possible), and enjoys nothing more than a nice beer after a long walk with the family.
Barry is a qualified Architectural Technologist from New Zealand and joined Rance Booth Smith in 2003 where he has worked on a wide variety of projects across a variety of sectors, from small residential to large educational and healthcare work.
Barry lives in Leeds and outside of work he has varying interests but particularly enjoys getting out in the wide open spaces; taking in the fresh air while walking in the hills of Yorkshire and Scotland.
Oscar joined Rance Booth Smith Architects design team in 2022. Originally from Hong Kong, Oscar moved to the UK with his wife and family, and has settled in a suburb of Leeds.
Oscar has over 15 years' experience in the Interior Design Industry and is an Award Winning, Certified Interior Designer (Hong Kong). Oscar has a wealth of design experience creating innovative spaces across the Sales, Entertainment, Retail, Exhibition, Clubhouse, Food & Beverage sectors, as well as creating Luxury Living space design projects throughout Asia.
Oscar takes inspiration for his design through extensive travel and is a self-confessed foodie. In his spare time, he enjoys exploring street food in various countries, and is gradually adapting his palette to more western dishes. Oscar is also a keen hiker and has been exploring areas of Yorkshire, and the wider UK.
Emma joined Rance Booth Smith in 2021 and manages the office, facilties and day-to-day finance elements of the Practice including budgeting, payroll, book-keeping, managing sales and purchase invoices and monitoring cash-flow.
Emma has wealth of office and finance management experience having worked in banking, health & safety, and logistics previously.
When not at work Emma is a keen amateur artist, gardener, knitter and loves walking in the countryside. Her dog Benji loves this activity too!
Cosmina has joined Rance Booth Smith Architects as an Architectural Assistant. Originally from southern Romania, Cosmina moved to Sheffield to begin her architectural studies, and then onto Leeds where she gained her master's diploma. Cosmina is now working towards her Part 3 qualification.
Cosmina has a good knowledge of a wide variety of computer software including website design, and has also won the RIBA sketching competition Leeds 2021. In her spare time, Cosmina enjoys exploring the outdoors, relaxing with her sketchbook, or enjoying a coffee whilst exploring the locality. Cosmina is also quickly gaining a reputation within our studio as a proficient baker, making her a highly valued member of the team!
She has worked on a number of projects in both the educational and community sectors and has a keen interest in the environment and sustainable renovation.
Michael is a qualified Architectural Technologist with over 25 years of experience in the construction industry. Michael has worked on a wide variety of projects across most sectors and has a keen interest in sustainable construction. He has studied the Earthship concept of building where dwellings are designed and built as passive solar earth shelters made of both natural and upcycled materials such as earth-packed tires. Michael believes the design concepts of solar gains, high thermal mass and high levels of correctly placed insulation are excellent and can be incorporated into designs using standard construction techniques to create sustainable buildings.
Michael is married with 2 children and enjoys walking in the Yorkshire Dales with his family and the dog, cycling, kayaking, reading and making home brew (especially sampling the beer once ready in responsible quantities).
Sam joined Rance Booth Smith in April 2015, her role includes answering the telephone, greeting clients and guests, sorting out the post, producing certificates, and a wide range of other day-to-day administrative tasks.
Sam lives locally and outside of work, is a busy mum of 2 boys, Finn and Cillian. In her spare time Sam enjoys running with friends, and walking her Sprocker Puppy, Scout. Sam has completed 3 marathons so far, and has taken part in many races for Charity.
