Bradford City Hall

Client: Bradford Metropolitan District Council

Rance Booth Smith Architects are working with Bradford Metropolitan District Council at the impressive Grade I listed City Hall in Centenary Square, Bradford City Centre in Yorkshire

The aim of the project is to enable greater public access and open the building up to allow community use of its very remarkable interiors. A range of spaces and function rooms will be created for use by the community, which at the same time will inform and celebrate Bradford’s industrial past, civic collections, cultural influences and heritage.

Part of the ground floor space in the building will host The National Rugby League Museum, which will be a world class museum showcasing the greatest Rugby League collection in the world. Interactive exhibitions will demonstrate the social and cultural development and importance of the sport, and celebrate both its history and future.

A Café and Gallery space is also planned, along with a unique Visitor Experience which will include access to the historical Magistrates courts, council chambers, committee rooms and civic spaces. Refurbishment works will also improve and enhance facilities for people with a wide range of disabilities.
