The design for the New Visitor Centre facilities in Haworth is underway.
The Grade I Bronte Parsonage Museum, where the world-famous literary sisters grew up, attracts thousands of visitors a year from around the world who wish to explore the lives of Charlotte, Anne and Emily Bronte.
RBS Architects have worked with the museum to design additional facilities to cater for them. These facilities included an accessible toilet and a cubicle for people with multiple and complex disabilities, which will allow those who need them to “enjoy the day-to-day activities which many of us take for granted”.
We have used the topography of the site and a sedum roof to blend the additional facilities into the landscape and used a natural palette of materials including Yorkshire stone and oak cladding to have a modest impact on this historic setting.
“RBS architects have advised the organisation over many years – I have always found them professional and friendly. Having a genuine interest in our organisation and what we do and getting involved in aspects beyond the scope of architects’ services, giving us helpful all-rounded input. I would highly recommend them.”
