Rance Booth Smith Architects are extremely sad to announce the death of Founding Partner Allan Booth, who had a four-decade career at the Saltaire practice.
Allan leaves behind a rich legacy. He retired from RBS in 2023 leaving behind a thriving and successful practice, now led by Linda and Martyn. Allan shaped the culture of our business, creating a friendly, fun, yet professional place to work. He helped countless clients to achieve their vision and was a fantastic mentor to many architects.
Over the years Allan was a key member of various panels, societies and steering groups that had significant impact on the development and transformation of Bradford, Yorkshire and beyond. His involvement in the business community was extensive, taking on the role of Bradford Society of Architects & Surveyors President, Bradford Property Forum Chair, Bradford Professional Network Chair, RIBA Committee, Bradford Interact Chair, Forum for the Built Environment Chair, to name but a few.
Allan formed RBS Architects back in 1982 with fellow architects Eric Rance and Tim Smith, growing the business and developing a solid core of loyal clients, with whom he developed longer term friendships as well as strong working relationships over his distinguished 40+ year career.
Allan’s positive attitude to life was reflected in his motto ‘work hard, play hard at the same time’. This will remain a key part of the RBS culture.
He had a generous nature, freely giving of his time to help others. Allan was an amazing colleague, mentor and a true friend to many.
