Welcome to Simon
Simon has recently joined Rance Booth Smith Architects in 2019. Simon completed the BA (Hons) Architecture degree at Northumbria University, graduating in 2013. He subsequently is now working towards his Part II MArch qualification whilst working as an Architectural Assistant.
Simon has worked in a number of practices across Yorkshire and abroad before joining RBS. He has worked on a variety of residential, educational and commercial buildings. This has given him a good backround of architectural knowledge for a diverse project range.
Simon has a particular interest in sustainable buildings and the use of timber within architecture. He has completed educational programs in sustainable architecture and eco and off grid housing in the US as well as timber design in Continental Europe.
He has also worked in Malaysia designing and building a research centre in the Borneo rainforest using sustainable materials and implementing tropical passive design.
Simon is currently completing his Masters project on the use and production of UK timber in architecture. He is looking to better understand the possibilities of designing with UK timber and how we can integrate architecture into the natural environment.
