1200km Cycle Ride for Brain Tumour Research
Rance Booth Smith's chosen charity for 2014 is Brain Tumour Research and Support across Yorkshire who provide a network of resources to patients and their families throughout the county.
On 24th May 2014, Allan Booth, along with a small but enthusiastic group, set off on an epic 1200km cycle ride to the Dordogne to raise money for this worthwhile cause.
The team undertook this mammoth challenge in memory of Sam Harvey, who died two years ago because of a particularly aggressive brain tumour. On a Sunday morning bike ride after the announcement that Le Grand Depart would be in Yorkshire, they decided that it would be a great idea to have a Pre Tour, Tour de Force in memory of Sam, linking the two places he loved - home in Baildon and his favourite holiday spot in the French Dordogne.
Allan also undertook this challenge as part of a rather momentous birthday - his 60th - just to prove there's life in the old dog yet!!
So far an amazing £11,500 has been raised!
